General questions about MERCUSYS Battery Camera
Part 1. Basic Information
Q1: Is the MC410 KIT waterproof?
A1: Yes, waterproof rubbers make the device IP65 waterproof. Do not tear off the silicone part by force as it may affect the waterproof performance. Keep the ports firmly covered when not in use to ensure waterproof performance.
Q2: Can the battery of the MC410 be removed?
A2: The battery cannot be removed. However, it can be used in conjunction with solar panels to provide continuous charging, eliminating the risk of running out of electricity.
Q3: Is a PIR sensor used by the camera?
A3: Indeed, PIR sensors are used by the MC410 to sense movement and wake up. The PIR's effective awakening distance from the front is approximately 7-8 meters at maximum sensitivity. Please tilt the camera downwards at an angle of about 20°, the excessive tilt angle will cause a significant reduction in the PIR's effective distance.
Q4: Does the camera have to be connected to the router's Wi-Fi or the Hub?
A4: The camera can connect to the router's 2.4 GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi and does not support Hub connections.
Part 2. Power Related
Q1: How long does it take for the solar panel to fully charge the camera?
A1: The amount of sunshine has an impact on how long it takes to charge. If the solar panel is functioning properly and receives enough sunlight, it takes two to three days for the camera to fully charge when it is switched off.
Q2: How long can the camera work without utilizing a power source after it is fully charged?
A2: Battery life of up to 180 days is based on the controlled laboratory conditions with 250s of use per day. The time of use includes recording and watching views. Actual battery life may vary based on device settings, usage, router specifications and environmental factors.
Note: It is not suggested to direct the camera at the street, road, or other regions that cause the camera to wake up frequently, since this would significantly drain the battery's capacity. Please refer to How do I extend the battery life of my MERCUSYS Camera/Doorbell? to extend the battery life.
Q3: How long can the camera work with the MA201C solar panel connected when it's raining or cloudy outside?
A3: The solar panel is essentially unable to collect solar energy to power the camera on rainy days. Depending on the amount of light, how often the camera wakes up, and other factors, it varies on cloudy days.
Q4: Aside from the MA201C solar panel, can other solar panels or USB charging devices be used to charge the camera?
A4: The MC410 can be powered by USB Type-C charging devices and solar panels with a regulated 5V output. With 5V/1A USB adapter, the MC410 takes 7.5 hours to charge from 0% to 100%.
Note: We always recommend using our official device for charging. If you use a third-party solar panel or charging device, we cannot guarantee the waterproof performance etc. The charging time data is from the laboratory, and actual times may vary.
Part 3. Video Related
Q1: Does the camera support ONVIF or RTSP?
A1: RTSP and ONVIF are not supported by the MC410.
Q2: Is it possible for the camera to record continuously?
A2: No, even with an SD card inserted, the camera is not able to record continually. Continuous recording consumes power quickly and will require you to charge the battery frequently. We recommend purchasing a non-battery model if you want to record continuously.
Q3: Is it possible for the camera to capture video even when it isn't connected to the Internet?
A3: Yes, the camera can continue to record video to the SD card even when it is not connected to the Internet.
